A luxury rehabilitation and mental wellness centre on the banks of Poomala Dam — held in the green folds of the Western Ghats, close to the deep forests where humankind was first nurtured and healed. No crowds, no noise, no compromise — just a safe, secure campus wrapped in nature.
Our approach is fully holistic — traditional Kerala Ayurveda, yoga and meditation working alongside modern allopathic medicine, psychology and counselling for every age. We do not promote medication unless it is truly necessary — every guest receives a tailor-made plan from our specialists, built around what they actually need to recover, and nothing more.
An engineer by training, with a Master's in Marketing & Management from the University of Chester in the UK — the discipline and international outlook behind how The Shore is run.
Sooraj grew up inside his father's recovery centres, watching addiction, relapse and recovery from the closest possible distance — and was at his father's side when he passed in 2020. Shaped by that life, and by an international career spanning India, the Middle East and Europe in hospitality and healthcare management, Sooraj built The Shore as his own independent vision: world-class clinical standards fused with Kerala's healing traditions, for the whole family, not only the patient.
Having overcome his own battle with addiction, Dr. Johns founded Punarjjany in 2004 on these very hills of Poomala — a medication-free, holistic sanctuary that has walked more than 20,000 people through recovery, and touched countless more through them: the parents, spouses, children and grandchildren who got their person back. His compassion, discipline and belief in second chances light every corner of The Shore. Punarjjany continues exactly as he envisioned it, carried forward today by his son; The Shore is Sooraj's own answer to everything he witnessed.
